Cheetah painting finished

A few hours in the studio today saw the completion of my cheetah painting (as yet untitled), so its now time to get cracking on my snow leopard project! Mum caught me unawares whilst signing this one!

Studio celebrations!

This was my dad's idea, to have a formal studio opening complete with a champagne buffet! So on Sunday 29th June 08 with a few close friends thats exactly what we did!

Myself with my husband Richard, our three children Holly, Ethan & Emilly and our lurcher Amba (whom I'm yet to do a painting of, isn't that always the case!)

Mum & dad and a couple of little thankyous for all of their love, help and advice!

Myself with dad and a surprize poem that he penned for me which is now hanging on my studio wall.
And finally me in my now much loved and used studio!

In My Studio at Last!!!

Phew, at long last I'm able to use my studio!! Hooray!!! Still some bits left to do, but they can wait a while whilst I play 'catch-up' (not to be confused with Ketchup! :-)

Electricity supply to the mains hasn't been connected yet but its in the pipeline so to speak, so an external extension lead with appropriate safety cut off box will suffice for now :-)

My mass of art materials are now being sifted through; papers, prints and boards are now living comfortably in their new home - an A0 plan chest that was donated to me :-) Pastels, paints, brushes etc are being sorted into two categories one being items that are frequently used - these will reside in the studio, & two, less frequently used things will find themselves suitably homed in storage units within our converted attic. As you can imagine Richard has wasted no time in utilizing the dining room table ..................................... for his laptop!!! Cheeky monkey!!!

Project Build cont..

Well we've been busy here (well at least some of us have :-) with the weather getting warmer it was more like working in a greenhouse than a workshop!
















My dad, Fred, took it all in his stride though and said that he was really enjoying himself (quite convincingly actually :-) Completing the insulating in just a couple of days.
















Then it was my turn to get to work with wallpaper then emulsion & hey presto its really starting to take shape. The wooden boards (to give weight baring strength to the floor) and floor covering have arrived today so off we go again this evening with saws, drills & lots of cooling drinks!

Project Build - workshop

Just a quick update -
three quarters of an hour of rain and two very soggy workmen later the workshop is finally up!

This coming weekend will see the start of insulating work etc

Project Build!

After what seems like years of having to use our dining room as a painting area, financial circumstances can finally permit me to have a workshop of my very own (yep we finally have the dosh & the word 'studio' sounds far too posh :-) Nothing big and elaborate though, just 8' x 10' of space just for me - heaven!

As you can probably imagine, using the dining room and therefore the dining room table too didn't go down too well with my husband (a bit like my cooking :-) and the rigmarole of setting up easels, paints and pastels only to be putting them away again time after time leaves its mark eventually with a noticable artistic slowing and an eventual grudge against starting something new. So its not to be surprized at that both Richard and myself being equally as excited with the prospect of 'Project Build'!

Yesterday was the day pencilled onto my calendar that would finally see the start of something new, workmen arrived and within a few sweltering hours the base for the workshop was complete .....
